Religion, conflict, and globalisation

What is the role of religion and preconceptions about it in conflict situations and global trends? The team at the Groningen Centre for Religion, Conflict and Globalisation aim to make school pupils, teachers, policymakers, government and politicians, healthcare professionals, and other interested parties aware of what is involved.
For professionals, there is a successful free online MOOC on religion and conflict; for school pupils, there are symposia and lesson plans, and for their teachers, continuing education activities. There are also learning packs for the various kinds of secondary school. The team advises government bodies and gives lectures throughout the country.
The researchers consider it important to ensure a better understanding of the role of religion in conflict situations, peace‑building, political questions, and issues such as sexual health. The grant from the Rewarded! Fund will enable them to roll out science communication activities to all layers of the population so as to promote the essential connection between science and society.
