What happens in the brain of someone with dementia?
VU University Amsterdam, Faculty of Science
What happens in the brain of someone with dementia? Determining this requires a lot of basic research. The Molecular Neurodegeneration Research Group aim to explain to patients, their carers, and the general public what we know so far. They also wish to demonstrate how valuable basic research can be in finding solutions.
They do this by means of public lectures and meetings with patients, and through the mainstream media, but also, for example, through art projects and interactive films. The team also promote understanding and support for dementia issues through fundraising activities.
